“If you like Pina coladas, and getting caught in the rain…” I love this song! It reminds me of Mexico every time!

June 9th 2016 we flew to Riviera Maya, Mexico!!! WOOOO! Who wouldn’t be excited about Mexico right!? We haven’t been on a plane in SO long so this was really exciting yet…nerve-racking for me. I couldn’t tell you how many times I got pulled aside going through security at the airport because I forgot to take my phone out of my pocket LOL… it was ridiculous.

Our flight left at 7am and took about 2 hours before we got to the Fort Lauderdale Airport where we had a lay over for about 3 hours. Thennnnn from there it took about an hour and a half to fly to MeXiCoooOOOOooO!

Finally getting out of the Mexico airport was my favorite part. Mexico has it’s own smell, I don’t know how to describe it but boy did it smell good. We met up with our other family members that were also there for my cousins wedding and we were waiting for out private car to take us to the hotel. While waiting for our car I thought we were going to get a limo because that was the first car that pulled up, but sadly we got a van HAHA.

We stayed at the Riu Palace Mexico which honestly felt like heaven. I mean just look at that beautiful view… it’s breathtaking. The hotel was B E A U T I F U L…the palm trees, the white buildings made it feel like Greece, the fountains, the 4 different pools and the best part is that it was just a walk from the ocean.

When we finally got to the hotel it was time for dinner (this is where it starts to get funny, but really embarrassing for my sister and I).

Once the doors opened for dinner there was a line of staff greeting and cheering the people  as they walked in. My sister and I decided to wear nothing fancy to dinner thinking a pair of shorts, our one piece swimsuit and a baseball cap would be okay to go into that fancy restaurant. But we were WRONG. One of the staff told us to take our hats off in the restaurant and EVERYONE, YES EVERYONE were staring at us probably wondering why we were dressed like we were ready to go to the beach.

That was probably one of the most embarrassing moments that has happened in my whole buhay (life). And because of that we ate so fast and ran out of there. Since we were already in our swimsuits we decided to hit up the beach and see what the ocean was like.

We ended our first day with cleaning up and actually dressing a little more fancy than we did at dinner time for the night show. During their night show they had a Michael Jackson performance where they had a Michael Jackson lookalike who danced the night away! He looked so much like MJ it was crazy, it made my dream of going to a MJ concert come true (even though it wasn’t really him haha). Ending the night with pina coladas I knew that this vacation was going to be a night to remember 😉

  1. Great photos. The one time I went to Mexico I was in Ensenada, Baja CA and I was on a cruz. I was expecting it to be like paradise but it was very sketchy lol Drinks were cheap though so that was cool!
